The Holidays are upon us! It’s a time of celebration, family, and of course the tradition of showing our appreciation for one another with small tokens or gifts. I’ve been able to put together a couple local establishments who make some great craft products that showcase the “taste of local.”
It seems that as the weather shifts, the colors change, and the days get shorter we turn to familiar comfort(s) to end one season and welcome another. I’ve reached out to a few local businesses to have them share how they have infused the flavor of fall into some of our local products.
Last month we found out how to make a proper cocktail. This month I thought it would be great to get everyone up to speed on the iconic "Old Fashioned" that pairs so well with a local fish fry.
We have spent the last few months diving into the production of spirits and how they differentiate slightly. Now that spring is around the corner, I thought it would be great to talk about how to “elevate” the profile of some of our spirits with the introduction of “Classic Cocktails.”
Last month we looked at a broad view of the mashing and fermentation process of grains, fruits, and sugars. Now we will take a quick look at the different style of stills are most common in your local distilleries.
Throughout the year I’m looking to dive into specific spirits to help readers learn more about each one and what it makes it unique. Before we can do that, I think we need to start with the ingredients and process.
Greetings! I’m Dan Weber. I have 13 years of experience in the craft beverage industry and Co-own Timekeeper Distillery with my lovely wife Kimm Weber. I hope to share some of my “meandering experience” with the Wausau community and look forward to contributing information about the craft beverage industry that you can experience in home and in the community.
